As part of a Virtual Breakfast Morning held on Wednesday 22nd February 2023 for members of Made in Group, three business leaders within UK industry shared their inspiring stories with attendees.
Virtual Breakfast Mornings are networking and best practice sharing events, exclusively for members of Made in the Midlands and Made in Yorkshire. Attendees have the chance to learn best practice from 3 hosting speakers, followed by a 30-minute round table discussion on relevant topics.
The speakers for this event were 3 company leaders at leading firms: Robert Price (National Contracts Manager at Sims Metal Management), Tony Mercer (Managing Director at EDM Plus) and Alan Dolby (Managing Director at Direct Air).
Robert Price, National Contracts Manager at Sims Metal, discussed Accomodating Trading Changes. Rob gave attendees members a glimpse into how Sims operate on the world stage. He took Made in Group members through how the company exports in order to get scrap metal to market alongside discussing the dynamics that are effecting international trade. With economic and logistical challenges occuring continously, Rob also shared how Sims react and accomadate to the impact.
Tony Mercer, Managing Director at EDM Plus, discussed Recruitment Challenges and Successes. As the leader of a small business, Tony shared EDM's experiences around recruitment, challenges that have arisen and how they have overcome these challenges.
Allan Dolby, Managing Director at Direct Air, discussed Sustainability. Alan discussed how companies can improve their compressed air efficiency, energy consumption and cost of ownership. He also provided members with tips on how to monitor energy with effective compressed air.
